Chinese Onion Pepper Steak

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds of beef, cut into strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 onion, thickly chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups of beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch

Instructions:

  1. Place the beef, green peppers, and onions into an electric pressure cooker.
  2. Season the beef and peppers with garlic powder, ground ginger, black pepper, soy sauce, and brown sugar.
  3. Pour the beef broth into the pressure cooker, stirring to mix everything together.
  4. Close the lid securely and set the pressure cooker to high pressure for around 15 minutes.
  5. Once done, release the pressure quickly or allow it to naturally release, depending on your preference for the steak’s tenderness.
  6. Remove the lid and switch the pressure cooker to sauté mode.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup of cold water with cornstarch until smooth.
  8. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the pepper steak in the pressure cooker.
  9. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy your Chinese Onion Pepper Steak!
