Fried Cabbage

Here’s a simple and tasty recipe for Fried Cabbage that makes a great side dish!

Ingredients:
1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
4 slices of bacon, chopped (optional)
1 medium onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil (if not using bacon)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for tang)
Instructions:
Cook the Bacon (if using):

In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and set it aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
Sauté the Onion:

In the same pan, add the sliced onion to the bacon drippings (or olive oil if not using bacon). Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
Add Garlic:

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
Add Cabbage:

Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the onions and garlic. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
Season:

Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). If you like a bit of tang, drizzle in the apple cider vinegar and stir to combine.
Finish:

If you cooked bacon, add it back to the skillet and mix well. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
Serve:

Remove from heat and serve warm as a side dish.
Tips:
You can add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor and color.
For a vegetarian version, simply omit the bacon and use olive oil for sautéing.
Enjoy your delicious fried cabbage!
