Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:
For the Ground Beef and Gravy:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp flour (for thickening)
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
For the Mashed Potatoes:
4-5 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup milk or cream
2 tbsp butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
Boil the cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water for about 15 minutes, or until tender.
Drain and mash the potatoes with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
2. Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onions are soft and translucent.
3. Make the Gravy:
Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir to combine, cooking for about 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.
Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
Add the Worcestershire sauce, thyme or rosemary, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, or until the flavors meld.
4. Serve:
Spoon the ground beef and gravy over a generous portion of mashed potatoes.
