Ingredients:
-3 tbsp olive oil
-2 lbs beef cubes
-2 onions, chopped
-3 garlic cloves, minced
-340 ml beer
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 3 carrots, peeled and sliced
Preparation:
1 Brown the Beef: - In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides. Once browned, remove the beef and set it aside.
2 Sauté Onions and Garlic: - In the same saucepan, add the chopped onions and cook for a few minutes, stirring often until they become translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
3 Deglaze and Combine: - Pour in the beer and beef broth, stirring to deglaze the pan and release any browned bits from the bottom.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
4 Simmer the Stew: - Return the browned beef to the pan.
- Cover the saucepan and let the stew simmer on low heat for about 1.5 hours.
5 Add Vegetables: - Add the diced potatoes and sliced carrots to the stew.
- Cover and continue simmering for another 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the meat is cooked through.
6 Adjust Seasoning: - Taste the stew and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
7 Serve: - Ladle the stew into bowls and serve hot.
